Beautiful shrub with fluffy white flowers in May and June, followed by bright red berries that are a staple winter food for ruffed grouse and are eaten sparingly by pheasants and at least five species of songbirds. It is a host plant for the Clearwing Hummingbird Moth. It also has nice fall color.
