Elymus hystrix (Eastern Bottlebrush Grass)

This is a great shade tolerant native grass. It adds texture and form to a soft landing garden. Found commonly in woodland edge habitats. Songbirds like juncos and sparrows eat the seeds and it is a larval host for the Northern Pearly-eye butterfly. It also provides essential nesting materials and winter shelter for various birds.
