This species is about a foot taller than Spotted Joe Pye and is typically found on shorelines. The center stem is hollow and often purple. Temporary Standing water is tolerated. Like all of the species of Eutrochium it is very attractive to pollinators of all types. Deer will eat it if higher priority food is unavailable.
