Wow what a beauty our native hibiscus is! This large plant needs full sun and consistently moist or wet soil. It is native to our area and found in marshes, wetlands and edges of ponds and rivers. It can be seen along Lake Ontario, Irondoquoit Bay and at the edges of other local smaller waterbodies. It attracts hummingbirds and is a larval host to the IO Moth.
