Great shrub for winter interest and birds! The berries aren’t very tasty to birds until they have experienced some frost so once the leaves fall your Winterberry will be loaded with beautiful red berries. They look so pretty in the snow and are much appreciated by the birds once they have sweetened up and there is not much to eat. This species is typically dioecious meaning male and female flowers are present on separate plants. Occasionally, male and female flowers may be present on the same plant, Seed grown winterberry like what we offer is unsexed. Planting a cluster of three or more Winterberry within 50 Feet of each other - should allow for pollination.
