This plant is found in Oak opening remnants throughout Monroe County. It does best in dry, open fields. It has gorgeous form and stays upright. The flowers are a beautiful green and white color, with a magenta dot. As part of the legume family, it is a nitrogen fixer and good for soil nutrition. Mammals enjoy this high protein plant, so think about planting it densely and layered between unpalatable plants like Monardas, Hyssops and Mints to give it some protection.
