Pycnanthemum tenuifolium is found in the medium to dry soils of upland meadows and open woods. It is a good flower for a small yard and tends to stay about 2 feet tall. I use it as a lower front layer in a partial shade, dry garden. It is so deer resistant as a mint family member that it discourages deer from going any further when used as a front layer.
