Heath Aster produces an abundance of classic daisy-like flowers. As with most asters, it blooms late summer to early fall, lasts for about 2 months, and attracts a wide range of bees, butterflies and other pollinators looking for their last bit of nectar and pollen for the season.  The plant has a bushy, sprawling growth habit. It is a host to the Pearl Crescent Butterfly. It does well in rock gardens and it looks wonderful with little bluestem as it starts to change color to reddish for fall. Locally it is abundant at Rush Oak Opening flanked by the goldenrods and red late summer foliage of native grasses.
