A versatile, well-behaved aster for the home garden. It has attractive bluish foliage and purple-blue flower. It is naturally found in woodland edges, savannas and openings. It can handle clay and rocky soils, but prefers well-drained soil. It is the host to Silvery Checkerspot and a vital late season nectar source for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
