Benefits: Pollinators
Sun: Full, Partial, Shade
Soil Moisture: Medium, Medium-Dry
Height: 3 Feet
Bloom Time: June, July, August
Tall Thimbleweed can be commonly observed throughout the Rochester area- mostly in shady areas of clearings. At 3 feet it is a nice height and intesely brightens a shade garden. It is an early to mid summer bloomer and pops up during that time between the ephemeral blooms and the mid summer explosion - a time when native pollinators often need pollen sources. It is an important host plant for several moth species and birds eat the seeds and use the fluff for nesting material.
